Hatha yoga
Hatha yoga is probably the most practiced form of yoga. It is an accessible and dynamic form of yoga that focuses on exercising the body supported by breathing. For physical practice, various asanas (postures, exercises) are practiced in each lesson. Although every class is different, after a while you will recognize certain asanas. Perhaps the most famous is the sun salutation. Strongly connected to hatha yoga is breathing. Without proper breathing, the body cannot practice the asanas properly. For the control of good breathing, pranayama, breathing exercises are regularly practiced during class. These exercises help you get in deeper contact with your body and thus with the practice of yoga. The word Hatha is literally translated from the Sanskite Sun (Ha) and moon (tha). Hatha yoga represents the combination of these two energies.
Hatha yoga class
A Hatha yoga lesson at Michi Training Center starts with a short meditation or breathing exercise. This helps you to come from your, sometimes, hectic day to the here and now and to fully focus on the yoga class. Every month our teachers work with a theme to which they adapt their lessons. Themes are, for example, 'balance', 'letting go', the chakras or the seasons. The asanas that follow the meditation or breathing exercise are adapted to this theme. During some classes, you immerse yourself in postures that have a stimulating or relaxing effect on certain organs or body parts. Other lessons you are much more holistic with the entire body, or you focus more on a specific breath. So every lesson is different. The lesson always ends with a final relaxation. This sometimes includes a guided meditation. During the final relaxation you may lie down on the mat, with your head in the direction of the teacher. You can make yourself comfortable with a blanket and/or pillow. After this final relaxation, you sit down in peace and close the lesson together with the teacher with a greeting, Namasté.

For whom
Hatha yoga, like many forms of yoga, is a form that is very widely accessible. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, super fit or 'I should do something again', you can always go to hatha yoga. This is because everyone can determine the intensity of the exercise themselves. There are always options to make an exercise easier. For example, you can bend less far, adopt a different sitting position, etc. Moreover, there are of course also ways for flexible or experienced yogis to intensify the postures. The teacher will guide you through all the steps and will support you in finding the right intensity for your body. The main thing is that you never have to prove yourself to the other people in class or to the teacher. You attend the class because you allow yourself a healthy body and a flexible mind. So be gentle with yourself, take care of yourself.
Yogamaterials
At the hatha yoga classes you use different materials. All this material is available with us, but if you have something that you like to use, feel free to bring it with you. The basis is of course the yoga mat. We sit, lie and stand on this mat in various yoga postures. We also use a meditation cushion. This is a round cushion. You can use this to sit on during meditation, but we also use it to support the different postures. We also have the yoga bolsters. These are elongated round cushions that perfectly help support your body in various postures. All our meditation cushions and yoga bolsters are made of high quality organic cotton and natural filling for pleasant use.
We also use blocks and tires for support or intensification. Finally, we have blankets. You can roll it up and use it as a support, or of course wrap it around you to make yourself comfortable. During the final relaxation it is wonderful to snuggle under such a blanket. We give our members the chance to order their own yogamaterials with great discount through our whole-supplier.
Is Hatha yoga just too intense, but you enjoy the dynamic movements, why don't you try the Easy Flow yoga. This is like hatha, but calmer, gentlier and milder.
The difference between Hatha and Yin
This is how we often explain it to people who have no experience with yoga and have no idea which form of yoga suits them best. In short, Hatha yoga focuses on strengthening muscles for a flexible body, while Yin yoga focuses on making the connective tissue in the body more flexible. Both ensure that stress and other troubles do not get stuck in the body. These forms of yoga are also very different. Hatha yoga is dynamic, you are moving quite a lot. You can even sweat with Hatha yoga. Yin yoga is much more relaxed and peaceful. The postures are only sitting and lying postures that are held for a longer period of time. Because you keep them on for a longer period of time, your body will relax in a less comfortable position. This allows the connective tissue, which often remains stuck, to relax. During yin yoga you make yourself as comfortable as possible with pillows, blankets and other attributes. If you like a little more action, Hatha yoga is really something for you!
